About Cato University
Cato University is the Cato Institute's premier educational event of the year. Its widening popularity stems from the opportunity it provides participants to form new friendships, and for sharing insights and perspectives in a one-of-a-kind, brain-energizing environment.
About this year's program
Health care. Housing. Transportation. Financial Institutions. These days, government is deeply intruding in all of them, grappling for control with over-reaching tentacles. And each ascending step of a grasping government forces a descending step in the nation's freedoms and founding principles. What historical precedents, proven perspectives, present-day realties, and individual options can be wielded in response?
Cato University 2010 will provide a thorough knowledge of history, economics, philosophy, and law, with special attention to the accelerating growth of Big Government. Top scholars will focus on how the U.S. Constitution is being ignored, as well as on the threats that liberty faces from Big Government, the financial meltdown, and war. This year's Cato University will conclude with options available to participants to confront Big Government and limit its power.
